Learn something new to create enthusiasm and wonder. Be a student!
The more you challenge your brain in fresh enjoyable ways the more inspired and motivated you’ll be. Take a course, join a class, or engage in a new hobby and watch your well-being soar.
Why it is important to learn new things
When you think about the things that you do daily, I am sure you would not put learning new things on that list. In-fact this should be an ever constant entry in your bucket list.
We live busy and hectic lifestyles. Whether you are a parent, business professional, hustling to make a life for yourself or even a student working towards a degree. Life can be challenging and learning new things or trying something new seems to not fit into this busy fast paced life we live.
However, you are missing out both personally and professionally.
There is happiness to be found in trying new things
Remember the word, “Fun.” Yep, it is 3 letter word that tends to be shoved at the back of our priority list. Doing something new that aligns with fun can have huge benefits for you.
There is a sense of accomplishment and pride when you succeed at something new. Instead of taking this to the extreme, learn how to fit this into your lifestyle. Pickup an instrument, sing (even if out of tune), start a sporting activity, go to a park and play Frisbee with random strangers. Just do it! As Nike would say it.
Your social circle will grow. Interacting with other humans or animals where there is happiness releases feel good chemicals in the brain. Watch how your spirits lift.
If you used to do something that you no longer do that made you happy. Pick it up again, get to know it and learn something new about it. Then broaden the horizon slightly. What other interactions fit into what you enjoy doing? Be a student of what you do and continue to be a student in other aspects of your life. Age does not apply here.
To use a real life example. A child that is growing, learning to walk and talk. Their brain is a hive of activity due to the constant development that they are going through. As they grow and join the rest of us in adulthood, they tend to loose this mental spark. Why? Because life gets in the way and they forget, we forget.
I challenge you to mix things up and have fun! Be a student again.
