So let us define disappointment – “Sadness or displeasure caused by the non-fulfilment of one’s hopes or expectations.”
Disappointment or more commonly know – World Cup Soccer knockouts
- Argentina – Adiós. Just finished watching this game. One’s heart goes out to Lionel Messi.
- Germany – Raff Out Roud 🙂 What a shock that was. Personally I was backing Germany with their Brazillian last time round and Argentina has always been a second favourite. Germany for their clinical precision and Argentina for their passion and flare of skill.
- For those out of the know, the joke going around in 2014 was, “What is the definition of a Brazilian?” To which the answer was simply “7-1” 🙂
The thing to really take note of is it is not just the teams disappointment but also that of the nations and fans from around the globe. It is absolutely amazing how sport can bring masses of people together with the common goal of experience and emotions.
Obviously rival fans love to poke fun at their friends who support other teams. There is so much humour to be had personally and also on a global scale. However, what strikes me as profound is how in one instance there are millions of people who are sad all of a sudden, based on a 94 minute game.
This shows the power of our thoughts, of our hopes and how quickly things can change. As people we love hero’s and we love to rally behind our hero’s. I would question the late change in the game bringing Messi to a more central position whereby he can create magic out of nothing. This was done way to late! Lovely overhead curling passes, a side step and all of a sudden there is space when it was not there before.
It certainly is going to be an interesting 2018 world cup final when it does take place. Are France now positioned to take the win through to the final?
