Don’t Quit! Human beings are incredibly adaptive. After all, there is a reason we’re at the top of the food chain.
At this point in your life, I’m sure you’ve been in a situation where there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But you stuck your head down, dealt with the problem and now you’re here. Everyone goes through trials and tribulations. But those things make you stronger.
Think of the lobster:
I know, this seems like a weird thing to think about. But hear me out. Lobsters are covered in a hard shell. That shell does not grow and does not shrink. But lobsters keep growing. They grow until they reach a point where they can no longer stay in the shell they are currently in. They are in pain and uncomfortable. So what do they do? They lose the shell, and grow a new one. A bigger one that gives them space to keep growing. So here’s the thing, the only reason they are able to keep growing is through necessity. They are uncomfortable, so they change the situation they are in.
That is you. Think of yourself as a lobster in a shell. Through your discomfort comes an opportunity to grow. It’s not an easy thing. It’s a process. But by the end of it, you’ll find yourself with some more space. Space for you to keep growing. This time your growth isn’t forced. It comes from your own willingness.
The saying “Rome wasn’t built in a day” seems fitting. Sometimes it’s about envisioning the result, instead of focussing on what’s being faced at present.
Keep your head down, keep pushing, and never stop fighting. You are way stronger than you could ever give yourself credit for. Because you haven’t reached a point where your strength has been tested in that capacity yet. So do not fret, you’ll surprise yourself.
Just remember, nothing will ever be worth it if everything was easy.
