Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. A good start is laughing. Life is so much better when you are laughing!
So let us start there. Laughter is often referred to as the best medicine.
Let’s delve into what laughter does for us
Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
Not a bad start to a happier you! Life is not perfect and if people give you that impression by telling you they are happy all the time, the are talking absolute Sh1T or they are on some really A Grade blissful buzz that they are apparently never coming down from!
We are not designed to be happy 24/7.
We need the bad/sad days to measure up to our happy days. Why? Because we appreciate the happy days even more!
Remember, that for every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness
That is a profound statement and I hope it makes you think. How often do we get worked up over small things that we really should just brush off. That is a part of your life that you have lived angry/unhappy that you are never EVER going to get back.
Life is so much better when you are laughing!
Happiness is certainly a choice and laughter is one of its happy helpers 🙂 So smile and laugh. Choose to be happy and make a concerted effort into achieving this. If you are going through a rough patch, be present for that. Don’t numb your feelings. There is light at the end of the tunnel. That is a topic for another day though. Today’s focus is happiness and laughter.
