“Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans. It is lovely to be silly at the right moment.” – Horace
Who on earth is Horace? When I read the above quote, that was my first thought.
Today’s topic of choice verged on inspiration and going with the flow. Okay….. it was the latter, no magical inspiration from the ether.
I wanted to find something more light-hearted and good old Horace has hit the nail on the head! For those who have a burning desire to know more about the man and his work, click this link. In short, Horace was the leading Roman lyric poet during the time of Augustus. This was around the time of the assassination of Julius Caesar.
I must be honest, when I started to read up on him, I found the topic to be way too much for my brain to process at this point in time. It’s all greek to me 🙂 (Something to read up on when I am more focused!)
Right now, I am looking for lightheartedness. Horace sounds like a nice fun guy, right? The quote also hints at his party planning skills!
Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans
So on a more serious note, we are way to austere at times. Whoever can keep this type of approach/appearance up 24/7, my question to you is why? There are way too many things in life that are a constant challenge. Learn to let go and be foolish, maybe just once?
It is lovely to be silly at the right moment
There is most certainly a right time for most things. It is fun to be silly, to skip, to talk absolute nonsense and crack up with a burst of deep loud hearty laughter. We feel uplifted, lighter. Personally, this has an instant affect on me and how I interact with others. It certainly makes for more joyous interactions.
Been silly is a tonic for one’s soul. Much like strong coffee is to a grumpy morning person. Instant happiness 🙂 or at least an improvement to the start of their day!
